For the first time in its 173-year history, the America’s Cup will feature the Puig Women’s America’s Cup from October 5th - 13th, 2024, welcoming female athletes to compete in AC40 class yachts and aiming to close the experience gap.

This partnership aims to provide female sailors a platform to showcase their skills in AC40 foiling yachts, promoting inclusivity, gender equality, and diversity. Puig’s collaboration reflects its Barcelona roots, maritime heritage, and global aspirations, reinforcing its commitment to sailing. The Puig Women’s America’s Cup, featuring 12 teams from established and new sailing nations, is a highlight of the 37th America’s Cup, promising an exciting regatta.

The AC40, selected for the inaugural Puig Women’s America’s Cup in Barcelona in 2024, is at the forefront of high-performance sailing, poised to launch the next generation of foiling superstars. Honored as the 2023 Boat of the Year at the World Sailing Awards in Málaga, the AC40 has been celebrated for its outstanding design, innovative concepts, and groundbreaking technological advancements that are reshaping the sport.
World Sailing praised the AC40 for its advanced features, including self-tacking headsails and an autopilot control system for stable flight, along with sophisticated hydraulics, electric assistance, and electronic systems to manage the foil arms, sail control, and flight stability. Grant Dalton, CEO of America’s Cup Events, highlighted the AC40’s role in promoting female athletes to the elite levels of the America’s Cup. Built by McConaghy’s in China with foils and systems from Emirates Team New Zealand, the AC40s will return to one-design specifications for the Puig Women’s America’s Cup, ensuring a level playing field where the best female sailors can excel.
